A CLEAR WAY TO REDUCE ENERGY BILLS

As UK households prepare for whatever this year’s autumn and winter weather has in store and widely predicted increases in energy costs there’s one clear cost effective way for many to reduce their quarterly bills.

Secondary glazing represents one of the easiest and cheapest ways to insulate a home against the elements and can reduce bills by up to 20% with Ecoease leading the way in providing a solution.

Recently featured in a host of national newspapers and on BBC Radio 2, Ecoease secondary glazing is the only system available in the UK to be manufactured from fire retardant, high strength PET. Otherwise known as Polyester.

It can be easily fitted to the inside of window frames in minutes using Ecoease’s magnetic tape and can be taken down in seconds when not required. A measured to fit solution (M2F) can be ordered which reduces the workload to an absolute minimum. It is also a perfect fit for the owners of Listed properties as it is removable and therefor does not require planning permission and costs around 10-15% of conventional double glazing.

It’s not just domestic households that are benefiting from Ecoease secondary glazing. A growing number of commercial and ‘third sector’ organisations are recognising the merits of installation including the All Souls Clubhouse, an independent charity based in London W1 that serves as a hub for community groups in the area.

All Souls Community worker Wilf Parsons explained: “We operate out of a Listed building with sash windows so double glazing was, therefore, not an option. We looked at a few secondary glazing options and decided that Ecoease provided the most cost effective and aesthetically pleasing solution with an environmental performance to match.

“In addition its fire retardant properties, unlike most other secondary glazing options, have played a part in us retaining our fire safety certification. I would definitely recommend Ecoease!” added Wilf.

As Britons look set to brace themselves for another cold winter period there are ways to dramatically reduce spiralling domestic energy bills.

One such way of mitigating against rising gas and electricity bills is by installing secondary or third glazing, an option that can cost a tiny fraction of the cost of double glazing and a solution that can reduce quarter on quarter energy bills by upto 20%.

Eco-ease (www.ecoease.co.uk), recently featured in the Sunday Telegraph and profiled on BBC Radio 2 with Simon Mayo, is one of the UK’s only dedicated suppliers of secondary (or third) glazing designed to insulate windows, one of the most energy inefficient areas of the home.

Eco-ease Director John Feely commented: “A growing number of UK households are recognising the areas within the home that offer the potential for conserving heat and windows are a major source of energy loss.

“An estimated 20% of heat gets lost through windows and Eco-ease’s “Measured 2 Fit” (M2F) secondary glazing panels are a simple and cost effective way of tackling this.

“Costing around 10% to 15% of double glazing, M2F secondary glazing as well as a DIY solution can be easily ordered online at www.ecoease.co.uk/shop and will be delivered within a few working days. The M2F solution is now also available through a number of partner retail sites including www.uswitch.com and www.nigelsecostore.com,” added John.

All of Eco-ease’s customers feel the benefits of secondary glazing almost immediately with warmer homes, the elimination of annoying condensation and lower energy bills.

One of those customers, Richard Cook from Chislehurst, commented: “We used to have to wipe the windows every day but now they are dry. It cost £1100 to secondary glaze 14 windows, a fraction of what double glazing would have cost.”

For more details, case studies, instructional videos and factsheets please visit www.ecoease.co.uk or call 0845 519 3230. Customers in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland can visit Eco-ease’s partner Easiglaze at www.easiglaze.com

With experts predicting snow in many parts of the UK from October onwards, the chilling prospect of another recession and all of the six big energy suppliers hiking up energy bills it looks like the next few months will be a real trudge for many British households.

Eco-ease secondary glazing is one sure fire way of easing the pain with many reporting up to a 50% reduction in their like-for-like energy bills based on feedbacxk from 50 customers in March 2010.

John Feeley, Director of Eco-ease, commented: “It looks like it’s all doom and gloom at the moment but installing easy-to-fit secondary, or indeed will help households save on their energy bills over the coming months for very little outlay.

“The average home cost about £750 to secondary glaze whereas you’d be looking at around ten times that to install double glazing which delivers the same environmental performance in many cases and it stops cold spots in a house making it more comfortable whilst being cheaper to heat.

“The impending cold weather will also see many mopping up the morning condensation but Eco-ease secondary glazing, easily attached to the inside of window frames using a magnetic strip, almost eliminates this annoyance as well as significantly reducing noise pollution.

“Our ‘Made 2 Fit’ solution means that no DIY skills are required at all to install the glazing panels and customers can immediately experience the warming benefits of an extra layer of insulation this winter,” added John.

One of Eco-ease’s customers, Jean McDonald from Northamptonshire commented: “It’s cost £575 to third glaze all of the windows in my house and you notice the difference so much especially when you come downstairs in the morning. It’s warmer, more comfortable and last winter I wasn’t turning up the heating quite as high. I’m sure it will be the same this year.

“On top of that there’s virtually no noise from the busy road outside my house and no more howling cats! The condensation problems have gone too,” added Jean who found out about Eco-ease secondary glazing from her brother Roger who lives nearby.

Another happy customer, Peter Hey from near Clitheroe in Lancashire, added: “We decided to get all of our 17 windows done, all different sizes and the total cost came in at under £500! It would have cost us that to get just one window double glazed!

“We now suffer from no condensation and the sound from traffic passing through the village has all but disappeared but most importantly we now rarely put heating on because we don’t need to. Our energy bills have fallen dramatically!” added Peter.

Secondary glazing could well be the perfect remedy for UK households buffeted by ever rising energy bills and the cost of living. With five of the big six energy suppliers already announcing big price hikes for what looks like another freezing winter ahead, the need to make savings becomes even more imperative with secondary glazing supplier ecoease.co.uk proving a perfect fit.

Eco-ease Director John Feely commented: “Everybody is getting squeezed by the rise in the cost of electricity and gas and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change in the short to medium term. Add to that the need for us all to make our homes ‘greener’ and it gives secondary glazing a clear advantage.

“Many households are discovering that a small outlay on secondary glazing, around 10% to 15% of the cost of double glazing, will pay itself back within a year to 18 months in terms of reduced fuel bills. I don’t know of any property improvement options that offer that kind of return on investment.

“Indeed some customers have even seen their like for like fuel bills halved after installing Eco-ease but the average is a 20% reduction based on our own questionnaires sent out to customers although issues such as minimising noise pollution and condensation are just as important considerations for many.

“Eco-ease has just launched a new revamped website that makes the process of insulating your home against the elements even easier than before with glazing that really can be installed in seconds without compromising the aesthetics of your home as well as simple DIY options for the more adventurous,” added John.

Eco-ease is the only UK firm to use polyester for its secondary glazing, a fully recyclable and fire retardent material used for aircraft windows and soft drinks bottles amongst other things. Acrylic and other plastic glazing solutions available in the UK simply do not offer the strength, benefits or safety of polyester.

The West Yorkshire based firm will shortly be launching a ‘Measure 2 Fit’ solution aimed at providing homeowners with a secondary glazing solution that can be installed and taken down in seconds.

From howling cats to severe condensation, Northants pensioner Jean McDonald had more than a few issues with her double glazed windows!

This affable Scottish lady has now become a convert and a firm adherent of the benefits of third glazing, a cheap yet highly effective solution to triple glazing that really is a perfect fit for the austere times in which we live and a perfect supplement to existing double glazed windows.

“It makes so much sense,” exclaimed Jean “and I can’t believe that more people don’t know about it especially given the cost and the kind of winters we will now be facing on a regular basis.

“It’s cost £575 to third glaze all of the windows in my house and you notice the difference so much especially when you come downstairs in the morning. It’s warmer, more comfortable and I’m not turning up the heating quite as high despite the bitterly cold December we’ve just experienced.

“On top of that there’s virtually no noise from the busy road outside my house and no more howling cats! The condensation problems have gone too,” added Jean who found out about Ecoease secondary glazing from her brother Roger who lives nearby.

Roger took up the story: “I read about Ecoease in a national newspaper and did a bit of research. Their clear plastic panes seemed to be the most cost effective solution around, very flexible and easy to adapt to the windows in my house.

“When Jean complained about the cold I suggested she install third glazing on the inside of her existing double glazing. That was a few months ago and neither of us have looked back since.

“At a time when we are all trying to watch the pennies yet seeing fuel bills rise everywhere this is an easy system that you can install in minutes and I bet I’ll have saved the outlay on my gas and electricity bills within a year!” added Roger.

Jean chipped in “Another big advantage is they can be removed! When we finally get some warm weather I can take them down easily and store them somewhere safe but they’ll be up for a few months yet if the weather forecasters are to be believed!”

Ecoease secondary (or third!) glazing is manufactured from high impact, fire retardant PET, and costs around £50 per square metre. It’s easily attached using a magnetic strip and delivers a U-value of 2.7 which is better than most double glazing systems.

Ecoease said “We lose up to 30% of our heat through windows so another layer of insulation, be that secondary or third glazing, can really bring down energy bills by an equivalent amount.

“It’s a great fit for owners of listed properties who are unable to install double glazing and an easy and unashamedly cheap option for people like Roger and Jean. They’d be paying between ten and twelve times as much to install a triple glazing system,”

A third level of glazing on the inside of existing double glazing is now being actively encouraged by government initiatives such as the Code for Sustainable Homes and makes perfect sense as our climate seemingly veers more towards colder winters.

With annoying moggies and cold rooms a thing of the past, it seems you’ll find few stronger enthusiasts for this incredibly simple system than Jean and Roger!

With all six of the big energy suppliers already announcing price hikes, UK households are looking for more and more ways of reducing their energy consumption and bills.

Secondary glazing, a low cost and flexible alternative to double glazing, offers the perfect way for homeowners to reduce energy loss in a time of austerity and combat a winter that has already been one of the harshest on record.

Ecoease has seen demand for their easily self-installed magnetic secondary glazing increase dramatically since the pre-Christmas cold snap with hundreds of consumers feeling the benefits of a solution that costs a tiny fraction of double glazing.

“It’s an obvious solution and, for little outlay, offers a very swift return on investment,” explaned Ecoease . “We are getting a very positive message from all of our customers that secondary glazing not only leads directly to reductions in fuel bills but also almost eliminates condensation and noise pollution.

“We are finding that customers are testing the system out on a few windows in their homes and then returning again and again to complete the job. It’s just common sense and is a perfect answer for owners of listed buildings where building regulations don’t generally allow for the installation of double glazing,”

June Dumelow from Leicestershire is already experiencing the benefits: “I’ve returned again and again to Ecoease to complete all of the windows in my house and now many of my friends and neighbours have placed orders.

“As an elderly person I wanted a system that could be simply put up without much effort or any technical knowledge and one that offered immediate benefits. Ecoease definitely ticks my boxes!” added June.

A spokeman from Ecoease explaned “The typical home can lose over 20% of its heat through windows butthis is wastage that can be easily mitigated through secondary glazing without having to spend the earth on double glazing.”

The typical window may cost around £50 to £60 to secondary glaze and can be installed in minutes and subsequently taken down and stored when not required. The clear PET plastic panels attach to the window frame using an adhesive magnetic strip and are an unobtrusive and barely noticeable addition to any window area.

“We are the only UK supplier of PET secondary glazing, a high impact and fire retardant plastic that is frequently used for applications such as containers for hazardous chemicals and aircraft windows. It is glass clear and very eco friendly as it is the most recycled plastic on the planet.”

Ecoease secondary glazing costs just £48 per square metre for the PET sheet and £4 per metre for the magnetic edging strip including VAT and delivery.

Millions of homeowners wake up daily to the problem of condensation on the inside of their glazing which not only requires mopping up but can also cause long term damage to window frames and sills.

Condensation is caused when warm air on the inside of a property comes into contact with a cold and non absorbent surface such as a window in winter. Air, which contains water vapour, sees its capacity to hold moisture reduced when it makes contact with a colder surface and condensation forms as a result.

It will almost always be an issue within single glazed properties and for many with double glazing. A highly cost effective solution, and a perfect way of ensuring heat retention, is secondary glazing with a number of UK suppliers offering a myriad of different systems.

Arguably the cheapest, safest and most easily self installable system is provided by www.ecoease.co.uk, a business that launched in the autumn and is already proving a big hit with hundreds of customers with their cut-to-size magnetic PET plastic secondary glazing windows priced at around 7.5% of the cost of double glazing.

From those living in listed properties unable to double glaze to people wanting to ‘green’ up their homes, the reasons for purchasing secondary glazing are many and varied but condensation is a major factor for many according to one customer, Richard Cook from Kent: “We used to spend ages mopping up the condensation and it wasn’t a nice job to be starting the day off with.

“Since installing ecoease secondary glazing that’s a thing of the past and the rooms are so much warmer. I’d recommend self installed secondary glazing to anyone. We’re looking forward to a much warmer winter than last year!” added Richard.

Because of its high impact resistance, sheets of PET are commonly used within aircraft windows. It is also the most recycled plastic on the planet. It is fire resistant to Class 1 and considerably tougher than existing secondary glazing solutions.

Costing from just £48 per square metre, ecoease secondary glazing can be ordered online in three simple steps or by phone on 0845 519 3230 and will be delivered direct to your door with fitting instructions within 10-14 days.

With homeowners across Great Britain bracing themselves for another hefty rise in fuel bills, a bitterly cold winter on the way and pockets tightening everywhere, a growing number of people are warming to an ecoeasy approach!

Ecoease.co.uk, established earlier this year, supplies easily installed secondary window glazing at a tiny fraction of the cost of double glazing.

John Feely, one of three founding directors based in West Yorkshire and Scotland, commented: “We are the most cost effective solution on the market and when you consider that a window that costs around £700 to double glaze, ecoease can do the equivalent for around £60!

“It really is a case of no pane, no gain, no brainer!” quipped John who has seen an incredible demand for the bespoke cut-to-size PET plastic panels which are used in this easy-to-install system.

Ecoease secondary glazing is the simplest and cheapest solution on the UK market for homeowners looking to insulate their homes against the elements. It can also be easily self installed in minutes using magnetic edging. It virtually eliminates condensation and dramatically reduces noise pollution.

As a dedicated supplier of self installed magnetic secondary glazing in the UK, Ecoease also ticks all of the environmental boxes and is proving a big hit with people looking to develop a greener lifestyle as well as those who live in period or listed properties.

Ecoease secondary glazing, manufactured from fire retardant PET plastic, costs £48 per square metre for the PET sheet and £4 per metre for the magnetic edging strip.
